Be careful what you wish for!

About a month or so ago, I was volunteering at Heaven Fest and camping out with some friends and students. I had my car next to our campsite but left it unlocked on the day of the festival. My friend Hannah was so concerned for my car and the stuff I had in it. She was worried someone would steal it or break in or something. But after reading the Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn I had a real different view on money and material things. I told Hannah that if someone really needed it that bad they could have it, it would be one less thing to distract me from my relationship with God.

Fast forward to last night, I went over to my friend Kaylee's house to get in some quality work out time and hang out. I ended up staying the night over there so we could wake up and get in an early morning work out. We kicked some serious butt, and I was heading home to shower (PS if you want a great workout the Wii Active is sooooo fun!!). I walked out to the street and in a state of near disbelief couldn't find my car. I stood there for a moment dumbfounded and then it clicked. I saw the shattered glass on the side walk, my car was missing, and oh yeah... Kaylee lives in the sketchiest part of Denver. See ya later car!

Through calling the police, my dad and the insurance I was really calm. I just kept thinking about Psalm 89:11-

"The heavens are Yours, and Yours also the earth;
You founded the world and all that is in it"

My car didn't even really belong to me, there is no reason to worry about it. I knew somehow God was using this for his glory. Romans 8:28 promises us that everything works for the good of those who love God.

I was thinking about a friend of mine who grew up in a bad part of Colorado, got involved with a gang and ended up stealing a car. God really used it to impact his life, and not too long after that he surrendered his life to Jesus. He is now working to do full-time ministry and is so sold out for the Lord. I just kept thinking and praying that something amazing will come out of my stolen car too. (I also prayed the would find all the Knowing God Personally packets and copies of the New Testament that I keep in my car just in case!)

Though I'm not sure if I will ever see my Jeep again, I'm sure I will see Jesus again. And Jesus is way more important than a car.

UPDATE: So the crazy/awesome ending to the story- I spoke with the Denver Police (who are awesome!) and turns out they found my car! It was crashed into a ditch and then torched. It literally exploded. I never had the chance to see it as it was being investigated. But oh man is the Lord faithful and wise!

I had been trying to sell another car I had that I had gotten for my 18th birthday for over 6 months. But since it's a classic car (1974 Mustang II) it's kind of a unique market. But the Lord in his infinite wisdom knew I would need it down the road! I am blessed to still have transportation.

He continues to remind me to stand on His word for truth "You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions" Hebrews 10:34

The Lord is good!

AN EVEN NEWER UPDATE: Oh guys the Lord is the best!! I just heard from my wonderful mother that she wants to bless me with a new car. She called me and said "Angi, I think you need a reliable car to do ministry effectively. I want to help you buy one." Oh Lord I'm just blown away! This is so neat to finally (months and months later!) see how the Lord used the whole circumstance for His Glory!
