To the Praise of His Glory

I have to tell you, as much as I loooooove the Old Testament (especially the weirdo obscure books like Obiadah and Ezra) I am digging Ephesians right now. It seems like every time I read it I am just blown away again by how good God is.

He is the giver and he blesses us so generously! This whole book is just about the good gifts that God gives. And one phrase is has been sticking out to me because it's repeated so often - "to the praise of His glory"

Everything points back to Him. Back to His glory, to his character, for His praise.
Seriously, just read even the first 14 verses or so and count how many times Paul says "for Him" or "by Him" or "to His praise"

It's all over the place.

The whole book of Ephesians is all about the gifts we have in Christ and how they glorify Him. (The fancy way of saying how our gifts can display the heart and character of God)

God is the giver so that we might see Him better.
He has been so gracious to me this week and blessed me with some dang awesome gifts. I want to be quick to turn the praise back to Him for all the good things he's given me.

My Crafternoon with my sweet friend Hannie. We're making fabric flowers for her wedding. What do you think? We also made some sweet boutenneires.

Then on the Fourth of July, I did a crazy thing and got up at 1am to climb a 14er (a mountain with a summit over 14,000ft for you non-Coloradans). It was super legit. We got to see an amazing sunrise and worship God out it the beautiful scenery.

Sunrise over Sawtooth Pass.

My awesome friend Kristin. This was her first 14er!

Our group on top of Mt. Bierstadt, 14,065 ft. I think this picture is so hilarious because we're only half paying attention and it pretty much captures everyone's personalities

Colorado is the most beautiful. Hands down.

I also had a really sweet date with Jesus this morning.
I thought I had forgotten a pen (a tragedy for me!) but I felt God tugging me to look through my purse again and lo and behold my favorite blue pen was there. A tiny gift from God but I am so thankful! He knows even our smallest desires! :)

My week rocked, how was yours? Do anything particularly awesome? Let's chat.

  2. Oh how I love Colorado. I was born there but moved away before my first birthday. Anytime we return Colorado just calls my heart to God - especially the mountains!

Girl, Ephesians is blowing my mind in support raising. It's such a good reminder that everything is a gift.

I think I need to read through Ephesians, too, now! I love that book too but it's been awhile since I read it... (And I saw your post to Carly saying it's helped with the support raising seeing everything as a gift... I think that would be good for me, too!) Miss you so much! Gosh, I just want to be over there but I know God is working in this time too... Pray that I see His hand in our lives even now... Sometimes I feel like I'm in such a rut... I need to remember to use the things he's given me and the gifts I have to glorify Him! EVERY day!

  7. I laughed when I read what a tragedy it would have been to be without a pen. You can find upwards of 10 pens in my purse at any time. I just have a fear of God giving me truth without a way of writing it down.

Your 4thhike must have been amazing. I love Colorado and would love to live there one day.
